Curriculum

The curriculum at the Chadwick is both personalised and flexible. Provision mapping and base line assessments on entry ensure that all pupils are challenged and supported to make progress and achieve. Barriers to learning are assessed and additional individualised support and interventions are put in place to ensure maximum success.

The curriculum takes into account the requirements of the National Curriculum wherever possible given that the aim for most pupils is to be reintegrated back into mainstream education. It aims to promote positive attitudes to learning and encourages cooperation between pupils and staff. Rigorous monitoring of progress aims to optimise success and identify and then fill gaps in prior learning.

At Key Stage 3 pupils follow a curriculum similar to that of a mainstream school so as to make reintegration back a smooth process.

At Key Stage 4 pupils follow a core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science, PSHE, PE and then are able to select from a variety of options such as RE, Art, Catering, Health and Social Care, Hair and Beauty, Construction, ICT and Motor Mechanics. All pupils will follow either Functional Skills, GCSE, Level 1 or Level 2 qualification pathways.

OFF SITE ALTERNATIVE VOCATIONAL PROVISION
Key Stage 4 pupils are offered a choice of subjects which are delivered by local providers. The provision is quality assured and all pupils attend lessons accompanied by a learning support assistant. The courses offered provide pupils with either Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications.
